NewsDatum: 29.05.2009Winners of the Call for Projects - EBE Summer ResidencyWe are delighted to announce that Daniel Iglesia (USA/New York) and Fredrik Olofsson (Sweden/Berlin) have been selected as participants in the summer residency of the European Bridges Ensemble (Hamburg Hochschule für Musik und Theater, July 11-25). The winners will receive a stipend of 1000 Euros each and are expected to complete a new network composition for the ensemble to be performed at the Hamburg Klangwerktage and Budapest Making New Waves festivals in the fall of 2009.The jury consisted of Andrew Gerzso (IRCAM, Paris), Pedro Rebelo (SARC, Belfast) and the members of the European Bridges Ensemble. The project is supported by CO-ME-DI-A , a multi-annual cooperation project within the framework of the Culture 2007 Programme of the European Commission. The European Bridges Ensemble was founded in 2005 by musicians and artists from 5 European countries. The ensemble is dedicated to wide-area as well as local network performance. It has had concerts at major festivals and conferences such as the 2008 ICMC in Belfast or the 2007 Music in the Global Village Conference in Budapest. The ensemble was just invited to play a concert at the 2009 SIGGRAPH ASIA conference in Yokohama, Japan. He is especially interested in live manipulations of sound and video, with notions of automation and algorithmic composition, the magnification of inherent chaos in sounds, and real-time media performance with traditional instruments, His works have taken the form of audio and video performance, instrumental works with live electronics, gallery installations, and collaborations with many disciplines such as theater and dance. His work has been presented throughout New York City in such diverse venues as Lincoln Center, Eyebeam Gallery, The stone, Ontological-Hysteric Theatre, Merce Cunningham Studio, Roulette, the Public Theater, the Kitchen, and in international festivals in the U.S., France, Brazil, and Spain.
